Do you still have an old analogue aerial or two sticking up on your roof? Or maybe on an old satellite dish? If so, you’re not alone. Millions of New Zealanders have switched to digital TV or streaming services, but many still have outdated and unnecessary aerials attached to their roofs. These aerials are an eyesore and a potential hazard. Aside from being unsightly, they can also rust and cause damage to your roof.
However, removing an old TV aerial isn’t a simple exercise. For starters, they’re mounted on your roof, which puts it at least one storey up and possibly even higher. This poses a potential health and safety risk, as removal work needs to be done at a height. You’ll also need a suitable ladder or scaffolding to get onto your roof safely, as well as health and safety equipment, like a harness.
A TV aerial or satellite dish removal tasker you find on Ezy Peazy can remove all types of devices from your roof. They’ll even dispose of it or recycle it for you in an eco-friendly way if required. They will have the necessary tools, skills, and experience to remove your old, unwanted TV aerial or satellite dish.
Removing an old TV aerial from your roof can be a difficult and dangerous task, particularly if you have a high or steep roof. That’s why it’s recommended to find and hire a tasker through Ezy Peazy. They will have the right equipment and experience to do the job safely and efficiently.
They will first get the correct equipment together, including a tall ladder, a rope, a safety harness, and tools. Then they’ll remove smaller pieces of the aerial, like the cable, antenna, and brackets, which will make it easier to remove the main part of the device. Next, they’ll detach the rest of the aerial and lower it safely to the ground. Finally, they’ll remove the support post and any remaining hardware, like screws and bolts, from your roof.
It can be complicated and risky to remove an old satellite dish from your roof, especially if you have a high or steep roof. Ezy Peazy can put you in touch with a skilled and experienced tasker with the right tools and skills to do the job safely and correctly.
A satellite dish removal tasker will turn off the power to your dish and disconnect the cables inside your house before safely climbing onto your roof and removing all external wiring. They will then remove the dish and mounting hardware and lower it all safely to the ground.
If you have switched to digital TV or a streaming service and you have an old TV aerial or satellite dish on your roof, it’s important to dispose of it safely and responsibly. A tasker you find on Ezy Peazy can help with the disposal and recycling of your unwanted TV aerial or dish.
There are various options available to your tasker to dispose of and recycle your unwanted TV aerial or satellite dish. Firstly, they will try and find a recycling facility nearby. Aluminium and steel components can be safely recycled at a scrap metal facility, which is a more eco-friendly option than disposing of your old aerial or dish in inorganic collections or a landfill. They may also contact the manufacturer, as some companies offer to take back their old devices and refurbish or recycle them.
TV aerials and satellite dishes are fixed to roofs with screws, bolts, and brackets to make sure they are firmly attached and won’t come loose over time, or in bad weather or high winds. A tasker you find on Ezy Peazy can remediate any damage left behind by the removal of an old TV aerial or satellite dish, to make sure your roof remains waterproof and structurally sound.
After safely climbing onto your roof, a tasker will inspect the roof for any damage caused by the aerial or dish, such as holes, cracks, or rust. They will then use a special sealant or patch to fill any holes to prevent leaks or further damage to the roof. Your Ezy Peazy tasker may also do a courtesy check of your roof near where your old aerial or dish was and notify you of other potential issues that may require attention, such as loose tiles or badly rusted roofing iron.

I have a sky dish and tv aerial I want taken down. The coach screws have corroded so will need cutting off and drilling out. I have a ladder just no tools! You’re welcome to retain for scrap metal if you want otherwise I’ll take them myself. ASAP please.
"Great prompt service! Job well done. Highly recommend Johan. "
Following high winds, TV aerial has broken off the roof. Accessing the lower pitch single story roof with a ladder, cut aerial wire and remove aerial then check roofing screws and make watertight (bring a few spare roofing screws/exterior silicone). Likely a 20 min job for the right person. Dispose of aerial.
"Great job from Josh, good standard of work, lovely guy, highly recommend."
1. Remove old TV aerial supports (3 galvanised poles) from 2 storey house roof (see photos). 2. Apply waterproof silicone over exposed bolt holes on roof to seal from weather. Note: Roof approx 4.5m high. Person will need to bring a suitable ladder.
"Friendly, did a great job"
