Finding the best spot for your TV on your wall requires you to balance comfort and practicality. Firstly, it’s important to consider how you use the space where the TV is mounted. Ideally, you should mount the TV in front of your viewing area, with the centre of the screen at eye level when you're seated. Also, avoid spots that cause glare on the screen during daylight hours.

It’s also important to find the position of the wall studs, as you’ll need to secure the TV mount to these. Also think about where your TV cables will run, to avoid unsightly-looking wires hanging behind your TV. You’ll also need to leave enough space below your TV for components like soundbars or gaming consoles.

Locating the studs behind your drywall is the first step for mounting your TV safely, as drywall won’t hold the weight of your TV on its own. To do this, use a stud finder to scan the wall where you plan to mount the TV and locate the studs. Mark these lightly with a pencil.

Once you've found the studs, hold the TV mounting plate against the wall and align the holes with the marked stud locations. Mark these with a pencil. Use a level to make sure the mounting plate is completely level. Next, carefully drill pilot holes using a drill bit that matches the size of your screws.

Finally, screw the mounting plate to the wall studs securely. Double-check that the plate is level before you tighten the screws completely. If your studs don’t line up with the holes on your mount, you may need to use special drywall grabbers on one set of holes.

You’ll need some help to safely mount your TV on the wall bracket. First, locate the mounting holes on the back of your TV and marry these up with those on the wall bracket. With your helper, lift the TV and align the holes with those on the bracket. Get your helper to hold the TV steady while you thread the screws.

If you need to make adjustments, loosen the screws slightly, re-position the TV, and then tighten the screws again while keeping the TV level.
