Trees are a great addition to your property. They provide shelter and are good for the environment. However, regular maintenance is necessary for a tree to be healthy and enjoy a long life.
Steps to help maintain a tree's longevity include having a tree expert assess its health and trimming and pruning, so it continues to grow well. Sometimes, however, it may be necessary to remove a tree that's past its prime, which is a task suited for an experienced arborist.
Whatever your trees' needs, you can find a professional arborist among the taskers on Ezy Peazy. They can provide advice and arborist services to help your trees thrive, including trimming, pruning, total tree removal, and even removing the stump.
If you're unsure if your tree is still in tip-top condition, or you're worried it may be diseased, you can discover the best way to treat it through an arborist you find on Ezy Peazy. They will inspect the tree, provide you with expert advice on its health, and take steps to treat any issues.
They may recommend that your tree simply needs a bit more water or nutrients, or they may suggest parts of it be removed so it can continue to grow well. Worst case, if the tree is past recovery, it may need to be removed so it doesn't pose a hazard. Whatever the outcome, a tree health expert on Ezy Peazy can advise you and then help take steps to remedy the situation.
Do you have a tree on your property that you no longer want or that's damaged and will likely die and pose a hazard? If so, you should call in a tree expert to assess the situation and fell the tree. Tree felling can be complicated and time-intensive, requiring specialist expertise and equipment, mainly if the tree is large and near housing or power lines. You can find a tree felling expert on Ezy Peazy.
Trees need the right environment to grow strong and healthy. For example, they need suitable soil, amount of sunlight, and moisture for their type, which differs between trees. When planting a tree, you also want to ensure you're providing enough space for it to grow to its full size and height and that it will not grow bigger than you intend. A professional arborist found through Ezy Peazy can advise you on the best size and variety of trees for your available space.
Transplanting trees can be hard to get right, which becomes more difficult the older they are. That's why it's recommended you call in an expert to help with this job. They will make sure as much of the root structure is transplanted as possible and transplant it to a place where it can thrive. After transplanting, the tree will likely need extra care with watering and nutrients, which will help relieve some of the shock the tree has experienced from being uprooted.
New Zealand is known for its strong storm winds in both winter and summer. That's why it's recommended you get an arborist in periodically to check the state of the trees on your property – mainly if they are near structures. They will check the trees, trim away any oversized and potentially dangerous branches, and prune any other material that's likely to fall during a storm. They will also identify any dead or dying trees that need to be felled to create a safe environment around your property.
It might be tempting to leave your trees alone and let nature take its course. However, it's worth having your trees pruned and trimmed regularly to keep them healthy and looking good. During pruning, an arborist will remove any dead or diseased branches. At the same time, trimming keeps the tree at a manageable size and ensures it's not encroaching on houses, powerlines, or your neighbour's fence.
After you've had a tree pruned, branches or an entire tree removed, it's necessary to clear the site of any discarded wood. If you have a wood burner, you may be able to recycle some of the wood into firewood. However, the best way to clear a site of discarded wood is to have it chipped using a special chipper, while foliage can be shredded and turned into mulch. The chips or mulch can then be removed or put onto your garden.

I’ve trimmed a bunch of trees and need someone to come and take them away They’re not thick branches, only thin ones but you will need a chain saw to cut them into smaller pieces to get them into your trailer
“Thanks Jordan Great job!”
A Titoki tree overhanging a courtyard wall needs pruning, and also some thorny creepers which are overhanging two courtyard walls, some of which are growing through some of the tree branches. The courtyard wall is about 2.7m high; it is also accessible from the neighbour's property on the other side of the wall via another street and the wall is 1.9-2.1m from that side. Using the courtyard wall height as a reference, the tree height is approx an additional 3m. There are two long planter boxes 500mm in height which may be slightly in the way when using a ladder, so it would be best to have two people on site so that one can hold a ladder where necessary (if a non-typical ladder is not used). The photos show a slight colour difference in the leaves of the tree and the creeper - the tree is slightly more lime coloured and the creeper slightly darker and more brown in colour (in most photos). The main tree branch which needs removing is about 110mm diameter and about 340mm circumference, and is best accessed from the other side of the wall for initial cutting, and dropped into the courtyard. Some of the other smaller branches overhanging the wall need some minor thinning/trimming. All creeper branches overhanging the wall or which exceed the wall height need cutting. Removal of debris will likely be needed - there are bins on site, however the debris would need to be cut and bagged so that I can bin it over time if it is not to be removed (I have done this with some already). The work would probably best be done on a weekend so that access is available from the neighbour’s property which will make the job easier. I have consent from the neighbour for the work. There is parking on my side of the site. (Apologies for the photos - there's a limit of 5 on here!)

I want a camelia removed. I've done all the top just leaving one trunk and the roots. I started digging but I gave up before it did :( The job is to remove the root ball, no need to chase roots or dig a big pit, just finish what's started. Optional extra: if you have the ability to remove the trunk and stump from the site then I'm interested but this is not required. Let me know in your estimate whether you'll do this.
“Thanks!”
A small tree was blown over by the wind and the roots/stump are still in the ground. Looking for someone to remove the roots and tidy up. Easy access. Please send your quote and availability.
