Summary
The customer needed a ~23 sqm deck and balustrades in New Lynn, Auckland, prepped ahead of staining. They had already tried water blasting but a "fur" of raised fibres had appeared, so the brief asked whether proper water blasting or sanding would best achieve the agreed outcome of a deck prepped and ready for staining. The task attracted 6 offers and the customer selected an offer of $250 that covered labour, sanding tools and included the railings. The selected offer explained that a good sanding down would be preferable because excessive water blasting can expose more fuzzy wood fibres, and sanding the balustrades was confirmed as part of the scope. The poster accepted the confirmed scope and availability, and the team sanded and brushed the deck and balustrades to remove the fur and prepare the surface for staining. The customer left a neutral sentiment and rated the job 4.

I've got a ~23sqm deck and balustrades that needs to be prepped ahead of staining. I gave water blasting a go but did not do a good job of it. Some "fur" has appeared (see photos) and I'm curious to know if proper water blasting will sort this or if sanding is also needed Keen to get something done ASAP so the deck can be stained.
