Replacement of a broken toilet seat hinge

Summary

The homeowner in Island Bay, Wellington needed one toilet seat hinge replaced after it appeared to have rusted away on a Stylus Back-to-Wall toilet. They were open to fitting a replacement hinge or swapping the entire seat if that proved simpler. One offer was received and the selected offer was $70. We began by inspecting the exact hinges and confirming the seat brand, knowing that both hinges should be changed together if a repair was possible. Sourcing repair kits proved tricky—common hardware stores didn’t list a specific kit for this model—so replacing the whole seat was discussed as a practical option. The task progressed from assessment to fitting the appropriate solution, leaving a properly secured, functional toilet seat. The customer gave a 4-star rating and said the job was easy and seems to have done the trick.
